Those who are just coming or going may wave or offer to text with you. That's fine as long as there is no sound.

Use the chatroom that is in the zone closest to you or most convenient to you.
Each room holds 100 people. I will increase the number of rooms as they are needed. Once in Matrix the rooms are in "Meditation Central." It's still for here.

They are open 24/7

Just click on "continue" --> continue --> open in browser .
You ought to be able to start chatting when you enter. The chat icon is the grayed out smiley face in the bottom right hand corner. Click on "send a message..." to the left of that to begin typing. I missed it the first few times I was in there. You'll find the texting box. There is also video.

If you are on your phone you will need to download the Element app. https://element.io/

On a desk top or lap top computer:

Click "continue" 3 times
→ "continue"
→ → "continue with Element" (You may need to create an account somewhere here. Only need to do it once.)
→ → → "continue in your browser"
→Jitsi Meet → Join Conference

...then you don't have to download anything.

It always looks like I'm there, but usually I'm not. This keeps the chatroom open 24/7/365. So everyone can come and go as they please. It's always open. Join at will.

I have the rooms set for All Mute.
But if there is a glitch on your end the following may be helpful.

You want Jitsi Meet (embedded via Element or the browser extension) to show video but mute all audio, so you see participants but don’t hear them steps:

Option 1: Mute your own audio output in Jitsi Meet
1. Join the Jitsi call via Element or the Jitsi extension.
2. In the Jitsi window, locate the microphone and speaker icons at the bottom.
3. Mute your microphone (so others don’t hear you) – click the microphone icon.
4. Mute the remote audio (so you don’t hear anyone):
◦ Jitsi doesn’t have a “global audio mute” button for yourself, but you can:
▪ Lower your system volume for Jitsi (on Windows, Mac, or Linux).
▪ Or use the browser tab audio mute: right-click the tab → “Mute site” (Chrome/Edge/Firefox).
▪ This will silence all participants, but video keeps showing.

Option 2: Use “Audio Output Device” to silence
• In Jitsi, click More → Settings → Audio.
• For Speaker / Output device, choose “None” or a silent virtual device if your OS supports it.
• Video continues; sound won’t play.

Option 3: Advanced – virtual audio cable / muted device
• Some users create a dummy audio output device (e.g., “Blackhole” on Mac, “Virtual Audio Cable” on Windows).
• Then set Jitsi to output to that device. Video still shows; sound goes nowhere.

Summary
• Visual only, no sound: Mute system/browser tab or set audio output to a silent device.
• Mute your mic too if you don’t want to be heard.
• This works both in Element’s Jitsi widget and the standalone Jitsi Meet tab/extension.
